After attending the wedding of his high school crush Qiuya, Xia Luo drunkenly embarrasses himself and angers his wife, Ma Dongmei. In the haze of the aftermath, he falls asleep in a restroom and wakes up to find himself transported back to his high school days in 1997. Initially believing it’s a dream, he acts impulsively—kissing his crush, punching his teacher, and even leaping from a window in an attempt to wake up. However, a hospital visit confirms that he has truly traveled back in time.

Realizing he has a second chance to relive his youth, Xia Luo decides to pursue his crush, Qiuya, while ignoring the affections of Ma Dongmei, now just a high school classmate. Determined to impress, he begins performing hit songs from the future, claiming them as his own. His “original” music turns him into a school sensation and propels him to fame. As he basks in his newfound success and increasingly lavish lifestyle, Xia Luo starts to feel that something is missing. Eventually, he begins to miss Ma Dongmei, realizing the depth of her kindness and love. Following his heart, Xia Luo sets out to find his way back to her, hoping to make things right.
